July - Introducing Billy Marmalade!

Okay, I'm going a little against tradition here. I found a vendor who was not already a member of TwilightMOMS, but just loved her items sooooo much that I had to spotlight her! So I hope you all will welcome her to the site as this is also her official intro post!

Let me introduce to you, Heidi Jansson (aka username lillysvenus) and her shop Billy Marmalade! :clap:

Many of you saw in my own TM of the Month interview last month, where I had some black and white polka dot blocks displayed with my Twilight books:

Well, Heidi is the maker of those blocks and you can own them too!

Before we get to the yummy pictures of her merchandise, let's get to know Heidi who is also our newest member of TwilightMOMS.

ET: Can you tell us about yourself?

Heidi: I am a diet pepsi fueled, creative control freak and a mom of 3 crazy boys. That's my introduction! That pretty much sums me up right there. My name is Heidi Jansson and I am from good ol' Sacramento, California (South Sac...whoop whoop). I am really excited and honored that I was invited to be vendor of the month and here I am. I'm really passionate and love, love, love to make things...all things, and I enjoy making people happy with my creations. It's the coolest thing to hear great feedback from people that cherish the things they purchase or have been given. What can be better than that?

What inspired you to start making Twilight items?

This is kind of a funny story. I have a "friend" who helps out with your site who was (and still is) obsessesed with this book, Twilight. Our friends would have to hear all about some character named Edward she was practically in love with and I'm like, "I AM NOT reading this book if this is the effect it has on people". So I abstained. (Sorry if I'm embarrasing you, Janicca). So later she asked if I would like to be a vendor at the Breaking Dawn book release at Borders here in Laguna. Being creative, I'm sure she figured I could come up with some cool stuff. So I thought to myself, "Oohh, I better start reading this book so I know what I'm doing." So I have to admit that I didn't get very far into it. I hadn't even gotten to the baseball scene but I asked other Twilight fans for feedback so I had some ideas to go on.

My husband and I got to the Breaking Dawn book release and I was scared I have to admit! (I know better now people so hold off on the hate mail) I saw all these teenagers in weird baseball uniforms and boys with torn pants strapped to their legs and I'm like what the *bleep* did I get myself into? There were girls having screaming matches about who was better, Edward or Jacob, and I thought..."This is complete madness!"

So to make this short, I got home scared out of my whits to read the rest of this book not knowing what in the blazes it would do to me. As soon as I got to the baseball scene I was smitten. Now, I am not a big reader and I read each book in about 2 days so for me that is INSANE. I read cookbooks and magazines...that's my thing. My huband was like, "A book? You? No!"

The books inspire me (obviously), my friends inspire me, and I like the idea of endless possibilites....that inpsires me to try different approaches on something loved by so many people. Hopefully I can inspire someone else.

What are your other hobbies, interests, etc.?

'll try to keep this short and sweet. Anyone that knows me can verify I go through phases. Like one month I will be into making baby shoes...nothing but baby shoes and then I will never want to see a baby shoe ever again. That pretty much goes for a lot of my hobbies. I see if I can do it. Once it's accomplished I move on. Maybe I have commitment issues.

I do lots of things. I do murals and portraits (check out my facebook albums for pics). I love to EAT and cook. I have a catering and cupcake company that is doing really well (again...pics on my facebook). I try to keep adding new and fun things to my Etsy store. I think Etsy is fabulous.

I am also a musican born and raised. I own and play the harp as well as the oboe. I don't do much symphony work anymore. With kids it's hard. I am also trained in Opera and attended Chico State on a music scholarship.

I seriously am loving my friends right now. I have a great group of good, solid people who support each other. I haven't had that in a long time. It's great.

My boys keep me busy and my husband is my rock. He supports all of my crazy whims and projects. Seriously, if I didn't have him there would be no Twilight creations coming from me right now.

So there you go. That's me! I'm happy to be here. Thank you again for the opportunity and I hope you find something that you love!

Having met Heidi and had the pleasure of seeing her work up close I just have to say WOW! She is amazing!!!

(On a side note...I am so sorry Heidi that you were so overwhelmed and frightened at the Release Party. I was the one who was running it and I was very scared and frightened! I think it went OK in the end...what with the 500 or so people there! LOL!)

Anyway, I can totally vouch for Heidi and say that her work is amazing! So go buy some of her stuff!!!

ps. the Scrapbook is SUPER freakin cool! So are the blocks!!! ^:)^

Thanks for all your great feedback! Janicca is still talking to me so that's good! And the Breaking Dawn release was a lot of fun...but it was CRAZY! Tons of hardcore fans in a small little place. Everyone did a great job putting it together.

Hi Heidi! I met you at the crazy Breaking Dawn book release (I made the lanyards and was one of the photographers)

It is so cool to finally see you as vendor of the month! Ladies, as gorgeous as her stuff looks in the photos, it is even better in person. I am the proud owner of one of Heidi's creations, a "Do I Dazzle You" sign with a gorgeous ornate iron hanging bar. Now that I see these photos, I see more stuff that I want to get too! I am still coveting those Twilight blocks.... hmmm, how to get my husband to get them for me?

Congrats on the VOM gig, I think I have some photos of your table from the BD release if you want them for any reason (although I'm guessing you probably photographed all that stuff before selling it)

!!Please Note!! I have been called out of town on some unexpected pressing matters. Unfortunately I cannot take all my items with me to ship out where ever I go :( I am keeping my shop open until Sunday the 5th at 6:00 pm my time and then my it will be on vacation mode until the 15th or 16th. I will be shipping any items purchased up until Sunday at 6:00pm that Monday the 6th. I greatly apologize for the inconvenience but all of the items will be still be here when I get back waiting for you.

So if there is anything you see and you just have to have before the 16th...make sure to purchase it Sunday by 6pm my time.

I hate this because this is MY MONTH! what the heck!
