Michael Jackson...

To so many of us TwilightMOMS, he was the troubadour of our childhoods. Who can't listen to one of his songs and not remember the exact time and place you heard it the first time? Listening to his music takes us back to being totally and utterly amazed by the sheer awesomeness of Thriller, to trying desperately to get the moonwalk down, and to sporting one glove and a red and black trimmed leather jacket thinking we were the coolest thing EVER!

Michael was the stuff of legends. So many music artists today were inspired by the path he blazed. Sure, in his last days there was weirdness, there was controversy, but right now, at his death, let us take this time to remember an AMAZING artist - the King of Pop.

ImageSmooth Criminal was one of my FAVORITES!!!

So dive back down into your childhood and share with us your best memories of Michael's artistry in music, dance, charity work and life in general. Let this be our memorial dedication and collection of greatness.

Here is one tribute video by one of *gypsy wings* singer friends, Dustin:

Okay I just have to admit that I had a huge celebrity crush on MJ after the Thriller album. He was lying with those tigers and I thought it was hot!! Grrrr!!!

Oh, and Billy Jean is still one of my all time favorites!!

Sorry that I have no pictures to post, but I am so saddened by this loss. Michael Jackson's music was such a part of my growing up, my young adulthood, and I was so impressed with his imagination, creativity, musicality, and dancing. His productions were simply mind blowing, and I will never forget them. How many movies and television shows have we all watched where folks spontaneously begin dancing to Thriller? Think: 13 Going on 30, for instance.

I am so glad you posted this tribute thread. He was one of my two favorite musical geniuses. The other was Freddie Mercury. :wah:

The youtube of Man in the Mirror is just heartbreaking to listen to.

He was such an amazingly talented artist. It's so sad that his lifestyle in his later years overshadowed his artistry. He was a true icon of music.

My 13th birthday, my parents bought me a stereo and my best friend bought me Thriller. My party was a sleepover, but we, as teenage girls, stayed up all night playing that album (yes, it was vinyl!!) over and over and over. It was one of my best birthdays ever. I will always remember that night and Michael was a big part of that. He will truly be missed. :rain:

I remember all of the build up and hype, surrounding the showing of the Thriller Video. Nothing up until that point, had been so amazing. To this day, I still reflect back on it in awe. RIP Michael; your music will live on, I am sure of that. :<3:

I can relate, Moochie. I remember when my parents gave me my first stereo - they also purchased my first record album and it was "Thriller." I was so excited because I loved hearing Michael's songs on the radio and now I could listen to them as often as I wanted to.

I had Thriller on cassette tape; I played it so much that I literally wore it out.

I was soooo sad to hear this news!!!! I mean, Michael Jackson?!!! He was only 50 years old!!! I shed a tear, said a prayer, and remembered the pop icon who I grew up listening to...

My daughter actually just tried out for a Children's Choir that her friend is in...they were going to sing for MJ's new music video. We were so excited about it. It would've been a great experience. :(

I laid down to take a nap today, and woke up to a text from my mother about Michael Jackson's death. It's one of those events that you just don't think about happening. I was shocked and saddened. Like all of you, I have so many fond memories from growing up of Michael Jackson and his music. No matter what people have to say about the later years of his life, one fact cannot be disputed. Michael Jackson was an amazing entertainer. He was a talented artist and knew how to put on a show and captivate his audience. He will be missed by many, but his legacy will remain.

I was a big fan of Michael Jackson when I was a kid, I even had a purse that said "Thriller" and a glitter glove.
I still love his music. I have several of his songs on my mp3 player. It's sad to hear he's gone, he made a great impact on music history.
